Contractors in this space build risk frameworks, develop risk models, implement risk reporting systems, conduct scenario analyses, and advise boards on risk appetite and tolerance. Organisations hire risk contractors when facing regulatory scrutiny, launching new products that change their risk profile, integrating acquisitions, or overhauling risk infrastructure that has failed to keep pace with the business. The discipline requires a combination of quantitative skill and commercial judgement that varies depending on the specific risk domain.
What is the market like for risk contractors?
Risk contracting in the UK is anchored by the financial services sector, where PRA and FCA requirements drive a continuous cycle of risk framework enhancement, model validation, and stress testing. Banks, insurers, and asset managers are the primary hirers. What does Outside IR35 mean?
