What does a commercial lawyer contractor do?
As a contract Commercial Lawyer, you are hired to provide legal advice and drafting support on the commercial contracts, agreements, and transactions that underpin business operations. The work typically involves drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements including supply contracts, service agreements, licensing arrangements, partnership and joint venture agreements, NDAs, and technology contracts. Commercial Lawyer contractors are brought in to provide additional capacity within an in-house legal team during a period of high transaction volume, to cover a vacancy, or to provide specialist expertise on a particular type of deal or contract that the permanent team does not regularly handle.
The skills expected of Commercial Lawyer contractors centre on strong drafting and negotiation ability across a broad range of commercial contract types, combined with the commercial judgment to understand what matters to the business and advise accordingly.
