Summary: The role of Housing Systems Consultant involves supporting a housing provider with their core applications, specifically MRI/Orchard Housing, on a 6-month contract basis. The position requires expertise in housing and finance systems, focusing on both business-as-usual and project work, including reporting, configuration, and user support. The consultant will work onsite in Central London for two days a week and is expected to start within two weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support core applications estate, particularly MRI/Orchard Housing.
- Assist with business-as-usual and project work around reporting, configuration, testing, supplier liaison, and user support.
- Work through application support tickets, change requests, and system issues.
- Liaise with business users to understand requirements and translate them into system/reporting improvements.
- Support UAT, testing, documentation, and user training.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience supporting MRI/Orchard Housing within a housing association or local authority environment.
- Good understanding of housing processes across tenancies, rents, repairs, assets, compliance, and customer services.
- Strong SQL experience, including querying databases and supporting reporting/data fixes.
- Strong Power BI experience, including building and amending dashboards and reports.
- Experience with data quality, data cleansing, validation, and reconciliation.
- Confident working with IT teams, data teams, suppliers, and operational stakeholders.

I’m currently recruiting for a Housing Systems Consultant to support a housing provider with their core applications estate, particularly across MRI / Orchard Housing. It’s a 6-month contract, paying up to £450 per day outside IR35, with 2 days per week onsite in Central London. The role would suit someone who has worked across housing and finance systems, and can support both BAU and project work around reporting, configuration, testing, supplier liaison and user support.
Key Experience Required
- Strong experience supporting MRI / Orchard Housing within a housing association or local authority environment
- Good understanding of housing processes across areas such as tenancies, rents, repairs, assets, compliance and customer services
- Strong SQL experience, including querying databases, investigating data issues, extracting information and supporting reporting/data fixes
- Strong Power BI experience, including building, amending and supporting dashboards and reports for operational and management use
- Experience working through application support tickets, change requests and system issues
- Ability to liaise with business users to understand requirements and translate them into system/reporting improvements
- Experience with data quality, data cleansing, validation and reconciliation
