Summary: The Oracle Specialist role focuses on leading the migration of Oracle databases to Oracle Exadata, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime. The position requires extensive experience in database administration, particularly in large-scale environments and cloud integration with Azure. The specialist will also be responsible for optimizing performance and implementing secure data strategies. This role is based in London and requires on-site presence for part of the week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the assessment, planning, and execution of Oracle database migration to Oracle Exadata, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
  • Manage and optimize large-scale datasets for performance, scalability, and storage efficiency.
  • Design and implement secure data obfuscation strategies for sensitive data during and post-migration.
  • Configure and manage Oracle GoldenGate for Real Time data replication and migration support.
  • Assess and manage database links (DB links) to ensure secure and reliable cross-database communication.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure seamless integration with Azure-hosted services.
  • Configure and tune Oracle Exadata for high performance, availability, and disaster recovery.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot database performance using AWR, ASH, and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
  • Document database architecture, migration plans, obfuscation logic, and operational procedures.

Key Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in Oracle database administration and engineering.
  • Proven experience with Oracle on Azure and large-scale database environments.
  • Knowledge of Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, and Data Pump.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate/Data Guard for replication and migration.
  • Experience with data obfuscation/anonymization techniques and tools.
  • Expertise in managing and securing DB links in enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and integration with Azure-hosted applications.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Exadata/GoldenGate certification (nice to have).
  • Experience in cloud migration projects involving Azure and Oracle Exadata (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance (eg, GDPR, HIPAA) related to data handling (nice to have).
  • Scripting skills (PL/SQL, Bash, Python) for automation and monitoring (nice to have).
