Summary: The Oracle DBA role involves joining a technology team in Edinburgh to support mission-critical systems within a regulated financial services environment. The position requires ensuring the performance, resilience, and security of enterprise Oracle platforms across on-prem and cloud environments. The successful candidate will also contribute to cloud transformation initiatives and support automation and DevOps processes. This is a contract position for 6 months with a focus on high availability and performance management of Oracle databases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and optimise Oracle database environments
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security
- Manage backup, recovery, patching, and upgrades
- Support technologies including Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, RAC, Exadata
- Contribute to cloud transformation initiatives (OCI & Azure)
- Support automation, DevOps, CI/CD, and Azure DevOps pipelines
- Participate in incident, change, and on-call support
- Provide secondary support for SQL Server where needed
Key Skills:
- 5+ years’ Oracle DBA experience in enterprise environments
- Strong expertise in Oracle 19c / 23ai, SQL, PL/SQL
- Experience with OCI and cloud database services
- Solid Linux and scripting skills
- Strong problem-solving and communication abilities
