Summary: The Oracle Batch Developer role is a 5-month contract position focused on developing and supporting batch processes within a complex Oracle environment for a major Government department. The position requires strong technical skills in Oracle technologies and involves working on high-volume OLTP workloads. The role is predominantly remote with occasional travel to Manchester or Newcastle, and it is classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and support batch processes within a complex Oracle environment.
- Ensure performance, reliability, and scalability for business-critical systems.
- Analyze legacy codebases and contribute to solution design and prototyping technical approaches.
- Deliver robust, high-performance code and conduct performance testing.
Key Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Pro*C, PL/SQL, and Shell Scripting.
- Proven experience with batch processing and high-volume OLTP systems in Oracle custom or Oracle Apps EBS.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Desirable knowledge of Oracle Apps encryption techniques and experience with AWS EKS.
- Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.

Oracle Batch Developer, 5 month contract, Hybrid predominately remote occasional travel to Manchester/Newcastle, Inside IR35
We are looking for an experienced Oracle batch developer to join a major Government department on a mission-critical project. You will work on a highly integrated Oracle custom application 19c supporting high-volume OLTP workloads across multiple government departments and local authorities.
Role OverviewYou will be responsible for developing and supporting batch processes within a complex Oracle environment, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability for business-critical systems.
Essential Skills & Experience- Strong proficiency in Pro*C, PL/SQL, and Shell Scripting.
- Proven experience with batch processing and high-volume OLTP systems in Oracle custom or Oracle Apps EBS.
- Excellent analytical skills, including:
- Analysis of Legacy codebases.
- Working within multi-disciplinary teams to shape requirements.
- Contributing to solution design and prototyping technical approaches.
- Ability to deliver robust, high-performance code and conduct performance testing in demanding environments.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of Oracle Apps encryption techniques, key management, and DBMS_CRYPTO.
- Experience in containerizing batch Servers and migrating workloads to AWS EKS.
- Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab for controlled deployments.
- Familiarity with AWS, Autosys, Dynatrace, and Prometheus.
