The Oracle Apps DBA is responsible for the administration, management, and maintenance of Oracle E-business Suite (EBS) applications, ensuring their optimal performance, availability, and security. This role involves collaboration with various teams to support application development, upgrades, patches, and troubleshooting while maintaining the underlying Oracle databases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oracle EBS Administration:

    • Install, configure, and manage Oracle E-business Suite (EBS) environments.
    • Perform regular patching, cloning, and upgrading of Oracle EBS applications.
    • Apply application patches, updates, and security fixes in coordination with relevant teams.
  • Database Management:

    • Administer Oracle databases (RAC, ASM) including backup, recovery, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
    • Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
    • Implement and maintain database security measures, including encryption, access controls, and auditing.
  • Performance Tuning & Optimization:

    • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks at the database and application levels.
    • Conduct regular performance tuning of Oracle EBS applications and Oracle databases.
    • Analyze and optimize SQL queries, PL/SQL code, and database indexes.
  • Backup & Recovery:

    • Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies, ensuring minimal data loss and downtime.
    • Perform regular database backups and conduct periodic recovery tests.
  • Troubleshooting & Support:

    • Provide 24/7 support for Oracle EBS and database environments, resolving issues promptly.
    • Work closely with development and operations teams to troubleshoot application and database-related issues.
  • System Integration & Upgrades:

    • Support system integration projects, ensuring seamless connectivity between Oracle EBS and other enterprise applications.
    • Plan and execute system upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Documentation & Compliance:

    • Maintain up-to-date documentation of Oracle EBS configurations, processes, and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with IT policies, audit requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Collaboration & Communication:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, network engineers, and business analysts.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on system status and ongoing projects.
