Description
We are seeking an experienced Virtualization Engineer to support the move from a VMware to a Red Hat OpenShift environment. This role involves supporting and managing the infrastructure used to facilitate application recovery testing within segregated clean room environments. This role blends deep traditional virtualization expertise with modern container platform engineering, ideal for someone who wants hands-on ownership across both compute layers.
OpenShift & Linux
- Strong, demonstrable experience with Red Hat OpenShift (containerization, cluster management, troubleshooting)
- Background in Linux systems engineering and virtualized environments (VMware, KVM, or similar)
- experience with Nexus (container repositories), Git/GitHub, AD and the administration of the fundamentals of Open Shift (eg Kubernetes and etcd)
VMware Expertise
- 5+ years of proven VMware virtualisation experience
- Deep hands-on experience with ESXi and vCenter in complex, enterprise-scale environments
- Thorough understanding of DRS, HA, Content Libraries, and Distributed Switches
- Full understanding of the ESXi life cycle
- Proven delivery of VCSA deployments/upgrades and ESXi host builds
- Solid understanding of:
- vSphere HA/DRS, vMotion/Storage vMotion
- vDS/vSS networking concepts, VLANs, MTU, NIC teaming
- Storage (FC/iSCSI/NFS), multipathing, datastore design
Automation & Scripting
- Proficiency in PowerCLI and PowerShell
- Proficient with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools, specifically:
- Ansible for configuration management
- Terraform for infrastructure provisioning
- Understanding of Jenkins
