Key Responsibilities:

  • Design surface and foul water drainage systems within HS2/rail corridor environments.
  • Develop terrain and corridor-based earthworks models for major HS2/rail infrastructure schemes.
  • Produce coordinated models, drawings, and technical deliverables aligned to HS2/rail requirements.
  • Integrate geotechnical data into earthworks design for HS2/rail corridors.
  • Coordinate with drainage, structures, and environmental constraints across HS2/rail interfaces.

Key Skills:

  • Extensive experience with Bentley Openroads software.
  • Experience in drainage and geotechnical modelling.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard tools (e.g., OpenRoads Drainage).
  • Strong understanding of UK standards (DMRB, SuDS Manual, etc.).

Are you a CAD Technician with extensive Bentley Openroads software experience? Have you worked on major infrastructure experience? Location: Birmingham ideally or London, Manchester, York, Glasgow (2-3 days week in office rest from home) Rate: £40-£45 hour outside IR35 Contract length: Inital 6 months with likely extensions Job Role: My client are looking for several openroad experience technicians to work on several packages of HS2 main work civil contract. This is working on final designs and will be involved in geotechnical and draingage packages. Bentley openroad software experience is essential and geotechnical or drainage is an additional bonus. Experience of working on major infrastructurew projects in a civils bias is what the client is looking for.

  • Drainage Modeller (HS2 / Rail)
    • Design surface and foul water drainage systems within HS2 / rail corridor environments
    • Experience across open and closed drainage systems (e.g. swales, culverts, carrier drains, manholes, outfalls) within rail infrastructure
    • Proficiency with industry-standard tools (e.g. OpenRoads Drainage or similar)
    • Experience with SuDS, attenuation, and sustainable drainage solutions on HS2 / rail projects
    • Strong understanding of UK standards (DMRB, SuDS Manual, etc.) and rail-specific constraints
    • Production of coordinated models, drawings, and technical deliverables aligned to HS2 / rail requirements
  • Earthworks Modeller (Geotechnical - HS2 / Rail)
    • Develop terrain and corridor-based earthworks models for major HS2 / rail infrastructure schemes
    • Experience in cut/fill modelling, slopes, temporary works, and construction staging within rail environments
    • Integration of geotechnical data into earthworks design for HS2 / rail corridors
    • Understanding of material classification, mass haul, and phasing strategies on large rail projects
    • Coordination with drainage, structures, and environmental constraints across HS2 / rail interfaces
    • Production of detailed models, sections, and volume reports to HS2 / rail standards
