Summary: The Ocean Freight Operator role at EV Cargo involves managing the end-to-end process of import shipments, ensuring compliance and effective communication with clients and partners. The operator will work closely with the Ocean Freight Team Leader and collaborate with colleagues across the freight team. This full-time office-based position is located in Southampton, England.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage import shipments from booking stage through to delivery and job file completion
- Complete import customs declarations in line with UK compliance
- Liaise with clients to manage haulage arrangements
- Raise client invoices and ensure accurate job costing
- Coordinate and verify customs and port health documentation
- Communicate professionally with overseas partners, clients, and internal teams
- Proactively respond to and resolve shipment queries in a timely manner
- Obtain relevant shipment and supplier information from online sources
- Adhere to internal deadlines and performance standards
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the freight team
Key Skills:
- Previous experience in freight forwarding or a similar logistics role
- Demonstrated ability to manage full-cycle import operations
- Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise workloads
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
- Experience with Cargowise is desirable but not essential
- Self-motivated, organised, and capable of working on own initiative
- Positive, proactive attitude with strong team collaboration skills

Role Overview
