Summary: The Observability Engineer role is a contract position based in Glasgow, focusing on enhancing system monitoring and performance visibility within a leading technology organization. The engineer will implement observability solutions to support complex technology environments and ensure optimal system health. This position is ideal for a motivated contractor with strong monitoring expertise looking to make an immediate impact. The contract is initially for 4 weeks with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage observability and monitoring solutions across key systems and platforms.
- Ensure system health and performance are continuously tracked and optimised.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, development, and operations teams to develop effective monitoring strategies.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and proactively resolve system issues.
- Contribute to observability best practices, tooling improvements, and reporting capabilities.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in observability, system monitoring, or site reliability engineering (SRE).
- Strong knowledge of monitoring tools and observability platforms (e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, New Relic, or similar).
- Solid understanding of infrastructure, system performance, and application behaviour.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in fast-paced, technology-driven settings is highly desirable.
