Summary: The Observability Engineer role focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting monitoring solutions using Dynatrace across various technologies to ensure service stability and performance. The position requires collaboration with architects and project teams to integrate monitoring into solutions while enhancing operational efficiency. This is a 6-month contract based in Telford, requiring a minimum of two days per month on-site. The role is classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate high-level monitoring and non-functional requirements (NFRs) into actionable configurations in Dynatrace.
  • Deliver full-stack observability solutions, including application-aware network performance monitoring (NPM), synthetics, log analytics, and infrastructure metrics.
  • Collaborate with architects and project teams to integrate monitoring into solution designs and test strategies.
  • Maintain and enhance dashboards, alerts, and visualisations to support proactive service management.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and tooling exploitation to enhance operational efficiency within immature teams.

Key Skills:

  • Strong understanding and experience in SRE principles and methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of Observability within a complex tech stack.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools including Dynatrace.
  • Strong understanding and experience with implementing and using APM tooling including Dynatrace.
  • Ability to analyse and resolve complex technical problems and document solutions effectively.
  • Understanding of log and synthetic monitoring principles.
  • Able to work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders, to bring them along on a journey of change.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and detail-oriented mindset.
