Summary: The Nuclear Safety Senior Consultant role at Occam Group involves leading the development of safety cases for civil and naval nuclear applications. The position requires a strong technical background and the ability to manage complex safety justification strategies while ensuring compliance with nuclear safety requirements. Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the development of nuclear safety justification strategies for complex systems and facilities.
- Planning, overseeing, and contributing to detailed hazard and risk analyses, including Deterministic, Probabilistic, and Severe Accident Safety Assessments.
- Interpreting nuclear safety requirements and leading the demonstration of compliance through robust safety arguments.
- Authoring and coordinating safety cases and risk management plans, ensuring technical quality and consistency.
- Undertaking and leading independent safety assurance and peer reviews.
- Managing and delivering periodic safety reviews of systems and facilities.
- Acting as a technical interface with Regulators, supporting regulatory submissions and discussions.
- Building effective working relationships with clients and partner organisations, providing trusted technical advice.
Key Skills:
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) preferably in a related technical discipline.
- Ability and willingness to lead and develop others.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Nuclear Authorising Conditions and/or Licensing Conditions.
- Strong customer focus with an ability to develop creative commercial strategies for the successful contracting of new work.
- Chartered Status with UK Engineering Council (desirable).
- Consultancy experience (desirable).
- SC and/or DV security clearance (desirable).
