Summary: The Nuclear Safety Engineer role involves working with a defence client, primarily onsite in Bristol and occasionally in Glasgow/Clyde, focusing on the completion and integration of safety assessments into the Preliminary Safety & Environmental Report (PSER). Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete safety assessments for the Preliminary Safety & Environmental Report (PSER) for Design Review 1 (DR1).
  • Support the delivery and integration of safety artefacts by contractors into the PSER.
  • Manage feedback from stakeholders on the draft PSER and coordinate updates for the final version.
  • Update the Programme EUSTON Safety & Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) for DR1.
  • Act as secretariat for bi-weekly safety working groups.
  • Serve as secretariat for the quarterly Programme Safety & Environmental Committee (PSEC).

Key Skills:

  • Experience in nuclear safety engineering.

Detailed Description From Employer:

Our defence client is seeking a Nuclear Safety Engineer to work on average 2-3 days per week onsite in Bristol with 2-3 days from home, along with 2 days per month onsite in Glasgow/Clyde. This would be on a quarterly extended Inside IR35 contract offering between £550-£770 per day based off experience. Active SC/DV clearance would be required.

1. Preliminary Safety & Environmental Report (PSER) - A draft PSER has been completed; however, there are safety assessments that have not been completed that will be completed for Design Review 1 (DR1), the output from which need to be incorporated in the final version of the PSER to be issued for DR1.

Support the delivery of these safety artefacts by the contractors and manage their integration into the PSER. Support shall include attendance and input to safety working groups to develop Safety Functional Requirements and the management of records within a central repository.

Completion of the PSER shall include the management of feedback from the review of the draft PSER by the Clyde DA and key stakeholders, and the coordination of the updates required for the release version.

Key Deliverable: Preliminary Safety & Environmental Report (PSER) - final version.
2. Updates to Programme EUSTON Safety & Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) - Updates to the SEMP for DR1.
3. Safety Working Groups - secretariat to the bi-weekly safety working groups.
4. Programme Safety & Environmental Committee (PSEC) - secretariat to the 1/4ly PSEC
