Summary: The Night Shift Manager role involves overseeing mechanical works during the night shift for a large-scale European Engineering and Construction company on a 2-3 month contract in Scotland. The position requires strong leadership in managing construction activities while ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. The role also includes coordination with subcontractors and monitoring the installation of mechanical systems specific to EfW technology. This position offers a competitive daily rate and is classified as outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise all mechanical construction activities on site during the night shift.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards at all times.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and site supervisors to manage workflow, resolve issues, and ensure progress against schedule.
  • Monitor installation of mechanical equipment, piping systems, conveyors, boilers, and pressure parts specific to EfW technology.
  • Review and interpret mechanical drawings, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct nightly toolbox talks, inspections, and shift handovers.
  • Report any incidents, delays, or non-conformances to the Day Shift Manager and Project Team.
  • Maintain accurate shift records, progress updates, and HSE documentation.
  • Ensure plant and equipment are operated safely and maintained correctly.
