Summary: The role of NewSQL DB Engineer involves supporting the rollout of a next-gen NewSQL database platform (Yugabyte) for a leading bank. The position requires hands-on engineering skills and collaboration with various teams to ensure a compliant and secure setup. The engineer will work on high-volume transactional systems and contribute to the design and operations of the database infrastructure. This is a 12-month contract based in Glasgow with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting high-volume, high-resilience transactional systems
- Running benchmarks and POCs to test performance
- Helping design and build the future DBaaS infrastructure
- Collaborating with infra and security teams to ensure a compliant, secure setup
- Supporting rollout and operations on internal cloud
Key Skills:
- Enterprise experience with Yugabyte (CockroachDB experience is also acceptable)
- Strong Python skills

We're looking for a hands-on engineer to help one of the world's leading banks roll out a next-gen NewSQL database platform (Yugabyte).
You'll be part of a globally distributed team, working on:
Supporting high-volume, high-resilience transactional systems
Running benchmarks and POCs to test performance
Helping design and build the future DBaaS infrastructure
Collaborating with infra and security teams to ensure a compliant, secure setup
Supporting rollout and operations on internal cloud
You'll need:
- Enterprise experience with Yugabyte (If you have exp with CockroachDB, please still apply)
- Strong Python skills
