Summary: The Networks Product Owner at FDM is responsible for defining and delivering the vision for network infrastructure products within the public sector. This hybrid role requires collaboration with stakeholders to prioritize features and guide the development team in implementing network solutions that align with business objectives. The position demands strong leadership in agile product delivery and technical expertise to ensure high-quality IT services. This is an initial 6-month contract with potential for extension.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy for the network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into a product backlog.
- Prioritize the product backlog based on business value, customer needs, and technical feasibility.
- Work closely with the development team to ensure the delivery of high-quality network solutions.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for network products.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with network products.
- Maintain documentation related to product requirements, decisions, and releases.
- Oversee the complete life cycle of the Network estate.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and requirements.
- Oversee scheduling and deployment of software updates and upgrades.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all network devices.
- Oversee resolution of complex technical incidents and problems.
- Manage O365 licensing for compliance and cost-effectiveness.
Key Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering or related field, with at least 2 years in a product owner or product management role.
- Ability to design and understand complex network topologies and architectures.
- Skills in managing network-related projects.
- Knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
- Familiarity with switching protocols like STP, VLANs, and Trunking.
- Awareness of security protocols including IPsec, SSL/TLS, and AAA.
- Understanding of application layer protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience with network devices from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, Arista.
- Knowledge of Firewalls, IDS/IPS, and other security appliances.
- Experience with load balancing technologies and strategies.
- Familiarity with wireless networking standards and equipment.
- Understanding of cloud networking concepts and services.
- Knowledge of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV).
- Proficiency with network monitoring and management tools.
- Proficient in ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management.
- Experience in product management, preferably in an IT or network-related field.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
