Summary: The Networks Product Owner at FDM is responsible for defining and delivering the vision for network infrastructure products within the public sector. This hybrid role involves collaborating with stakeholders, prioritizing features, and guiding the development team to implement effective network solutions. The position requires strong technical acumen and leadership skills to ensure high-quality IT services that align with business objectives. The role is initially a 6-month contract with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy for network infrastructure.
- Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them into a product backlog.
- Prioritize the product backlog based on business value, customer needs, and technical feasibility.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality network solutions with the development team.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for network products.
- Stay informed about industry trends to maintain competitive network infrastructure.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with network products.
- Maintain documentation related to product requirements, decisions, and releases.
- Oversee the complete lifecycle of the Network estate, including planning and deployment.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and oversee software updates.
- Manage O365 licensing for compliance and cost-effectiveness.
- Resolve complex technical incidents and problems effectively.
Key Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering or related field.
- At least 2 years in a product owner or product management role.
- Ability to design and understand complex network topologies and architectures.
- Skills in managing network-related projects.
- Knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and switching protocols (STP, VLANs, Trunking).
- Awareness of security protocols (IPsec, SSL/TLS, AAA).
- Understanding of application layer protocols (HTTP, DNS, DHCP).
- Experience with network devices from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, Arista.
- Knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, and security appliances.
- Experience with load balancing technologies and wireless networking standards.
- Understanding of cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV).
- Proficiency with network monitoring and management tools (SolarWinds, Nagios).
- Familiarity with ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management.
- Experience in product management, preferably in IT or network-related field.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
