Summary: The Network Test Engineer role is a contract position requiring active or eligible SC clearance, focused on supporting the transition and transformation of Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) network connectivity. The engineer will create test scripts, execute tests, and manage test cases for network infrastructure components. Practical skills in handling network equipment and understanding data center operations are essential. The position is based in the UK, with flexibility required for potential breaks in resource effort.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create test scripts from Test Plans / Low Level Designs for network infrastructure (Routers / switches / firewalls).
  • Understand test phases purposes: Unit, System Integration, Functional, Non-Functional, Disaster recovery, Operation Acceptance.
  • Import test cases to ALM and link to requirements.
  • Collect test execution evidence and report execution/defects in ALM.
  • Set up network test equipment for RFC 2544 testing.
  • Interpret network infrastructure design from HLD/LLD.
  • Manage ALM test cases, defect management, and reporting.

Key Skills:

  • Active or eligible SC clearance.
  • Test Analyst skills.
  • Practical skills with Cisco Switch/Router console commands.
  • Experience handling fibre optic cables.
  • Understanding of data center operating procedures.
  • Familiarity with network and service management tools (e.g., StableNet).

Deliverables – required for SoW and to measure fulfilment of role. Describe the measurable activities and the stages which they are required to be provided

Test Analyst skills

  • Create test scripts from Test Plans / Low Level Designs for Network infrastructure (Routers / switches / firewalls)

Overview

Test Analyst Role has to be based in the UK, and can start to gain SC clearance or has SC clearance already. The role is to support a Programme in the transition & transformation of Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) network connectivity. Any experience of working on National Grid would be advantageous but not essential.

Duration: Expected full-time but due to the fluidity there may be some small breaks (unlikely but just as a safety net) so need flexibility to pause the resource effort but will be given notice as much as in advance
