Summary: The Network Test Engineer role involves delivering measurable activities related to the testing of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls. Key Responsibilities:

  • Create test scripts from Test Plans / Low Level Designs for Network infrastructure.
  • Understand the purposes of various test phases: Unit, System Integration, Functional, Non-Functional, Disaster recovery, Operation Acceptance.
  • Import test cases to ALM and link them to requirements.
  • Collect test execution evidence and report execution/defects in ALM.
  • Set up network test equipment for RFC 2544 testing.
  • Interpret Network infrastructure design from HLD/LLD.
  • Manage ALM test cases, defect management, and reporting.

Key Skills:

  • Practical skills in Cisco Switch/Router console commands.
  • Handling fibre optic cables.
  • Understanding of Data Centre operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of Network and Service Management tool sets (e.g., StableNet).
  • Ability to gain SC clearance or already possess it.
  • Experience with National Grid is advantageous but not essential.

Overview

The role has to be based in the UK, and can start to gain SC clearance or has SC clearance already. The role is to support a Programme in the transition & transformation of Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) network connectivity. Any experience of working on National Grid would be advantageous but not essential.

Duration: Expected full-time but due to the fluidity there may be some small breaks (unlikely but just as a safety net) so need flexibility to pause the resource effort but will be given notice as much as in advance
