Role Summary

The Network Device Telemetry & Analysis Engineer is responsible for onboarding, processing, and analysing network infrastructure and device telemetry.

This role focuses on bringing telemetry data into Splunk and related platforms, developing dashboards and alerts, and enabling Operations teams with data-driven insights for troubleshooting, availability decisions, and performance monitoring.

The role is hands-on and closely aligned with Network Operations, Automation, and Monitoring teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, normalize, and onboard network device telemetry and instrumentation data (metrics, logs, events, streams) into Splunk and approved analytics platforms.
  • Work with Network Engineering teams to understand device behaviors, health indicators, and performance signals across routing, switching, wireless, and SD-WAN platforms.
  • Design, build, and maintain Splunk dashboards, searches, and visualizations used by Operations teams for troubleshooting and situational awareness.
  • Develop alerting strategies based on telemetry data to detect network degradation, anomalies, and availability risks.
  • Ensure telemetry data supports operational decision-making, including incident triage, root cause analysis, and proactive issue identification.
  • Partner with Monitoring and Observability architects to align device telemetry with broader network health and observability models.
  • Validate data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness; identify telemetry gaps and work with stakeholders to remediate them.
  • Support onboarding of new network platforms or device types into the telemetry and analytics pipeline.
  • Document telemetry sources, dashboards, alert logic, and operational usage guidelines for Production Operations.
  • Provide support during major rollouts or network changes to validate telemetry and alert behavior.
