Key Responsibilities:
- Administer Palo Alto Firewalls or similar firewalls, including security policies, troubleshooting, NAT, and IDS/IPS.
- Manage switching and routing tasks using Cisco or Alcatel equipment.
- Utilize load balancers such as Kemp.
- Apply certificates and troubleshoot IIS/Apache servers.
- Run scripts and create automation using Ansible.
- Utilize Netbox for network documentation.
- Monitor network performance with Solarwinds.
- Follow ITIL, Prince2, or Agile methodologies.
- Create and adhere to technical documentation.
- Support other teams and act as a point of escalation.
- Engage in technical discussions and present solutions.
- Work autonomously and manage time effectively.
- Attend team meetings and office days as required.
- Visit council sites as needed for issue resolution and support.
- Participate in on-call and maintenance weekend rotas.
- Work from home effectively without distractions.
Key Skills:
- Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls or similar.
- Proficiency in switching and routing (Cisco or Alcatel).

ROLE IS PAYING £350-£375/DAY INSIDE IR35.
My Government Client based in Huntingdon seeks a dynamic, talented and technically astute 3rd Line Server hands-on Network & Infrastructure Engineer with +4 years experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in 3rd Line Server Builds, Configuration, Installation & Troubleshooting of Firewalls (ideally Palo Alto), Switches/Routers, Network Authentication. ANY ENTRA ID & Windows Server skills a bonus.
GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/SKILLS ARE:
- Palo Alto FireWall admin (Security policies, troubleshooting, NAT, IDS/IPS) or other FW to similar mgmt level
- Switching/Routing (Cisco or Alcatel)
- Kemp (or other load balancers)
- IIS/Apache (applying certs, binding ports, troubleshooting)
- Ansible (running scripts, creating a bonus)
- Netbox
- Solarwinds
- ITIL/Prince2/Agile
- Creating and following technical documentation
- Supporting other teams including being a point of escalation
- Experience of technical change processes
- Able to engage in technical discussion, present ideas and solutions to common issues
- Able to work autonomously
- Good general admin & time reporting skills
- Able to attend main office for team days & team meetings
- Able to attend council sites "as needed" to resolve issues/support planned works
- Able to join on-call rota, maintenance weekend rota and be available for planned OOO
- Self motivated & able to work from home without distractions
