Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for the NOC L1 team, taking ownership of complex and high-priority incidents to drive them to resolution.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and in-depth root cause analysis for complex issues affecting multi-vendor network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Configure and troubleshoot advanced routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF, and switching technologies including VLANs, STP, and VPC/MLAG across Cisco, Juniper, and other enterprise platforms.
- Proactively identify trends and recurring problems, working with engineering and architecture teams to develop and implement permanent solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Develop, refine, and document operational procedures, runbooks, and knowledge base articles to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire NOC team.
- Participate in the planning and execution of scheduled network maintenance, upgrades, and migrations, owning the change management process for these activities.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to NOC L1 Engineers, coaching them on troubleshooting techniques and best practices.
- Collaborate with vendors, carriers, and other internal IT teams to coordinate the resolution of service-impacting issues.
- Find opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and workflows using scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to improve operational efficiency.
Key Skills:
- 3-5+ years of experience in a Network Operations Center or as a Network Engineer, with at least 2 years in a Tier 2 or equivalent escalation role.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Expert-level knowledge of LAN/WAN protocols and topologies, including an in-depth understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and MPLS.
- Extensive hands-on experience with enterprise-grade network hardware from vendors such as Cisco (Nexus, Catalyst, ASR), Juniper, and Palo Alto Networks.
- Proficiency with network monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, NetScout) to diagnose complex performance issues.
- Strong understanding of network security principles and experience with firewall and VPN configuration and troubleshooting.
- A professional-level certification such as Cisco CCNP Enterprise, Juniper JNCIS-ENT, or equivalent is highly required.
- Demonstrated ability to document technical solutions and create clear, concise operational procedures.
