Summary: The Network Migration Engineer will support a large-scale dark fibre rollout by configuring core network equipment and directing field engineering teams. This role involves delivering secure and well-documented network migrations from standard links to dark fibre across multiple sites. The engineer will ensure that network changes are designed, implemented, and validated correctly while collaborating with various stakeholders. The position is office-based and requires a strong background in network configuration and migration processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure and manage core network equipment to support dark fibre deployments.
- Implement routing, switching, VLANs, and segmentation to meet migration requirements.
- Ensure correct integration of local staff networks, OSNs, and core services.
- Support migration from tail links and NNI circuits to dark fibre.
- Create and execute detailed migration plans in advance of site cutovers.
- Coordinate and support site migrations across multiple locations.
- Provide technical direction to field engineering teams during deployments.
- Provide fault finding, diagnostics, and performance verification post-migration.
- Validate network configurations and ensure services are operating as expected.
- Produce clear and accurate configuration and migration documentation.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience configuring core network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, OOB devices).
- Strong experience with dark fibre networks and site migrations (tail links, NNI transitions).
- Solid understanding of network fundamentals including routing, switching, VLANs, and IP networking.
- Ability to interpret network diagrams, schematics, and technical designs.
- Proven track record in network troubleshooting and validation.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accurate configuration and documentation.
- Ability to work independently in a structured, delivery-focused environment.
