Summary: The Network Infrastructure Engineer - Linux role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement technical solutions and resolve inter-system challenges. The position requires strong networking and Linux skills to support the execution of technical architecture and enhance delivery quality. The engineer will also contribute to the design of specifications and maintain systems to ensure operational efficiency. This is a contract position based in Leeds, requiring on-site presence five days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with colleagues and customers to implement technical solutions while resolving inter-system challenges.
  • Support the execution of technical architecture and technology choices that balance immediate impacts with long-term transformations.
  • Assist in designing technical specifications and developing software solutions for smaller initiatives, enhancing delivery quality.
  • Plan and monitor activities from scoping to live deployment, ensuring that project scope and benefits are met.
  • Develop strong working relationships with project stakeholders, communicating progress and managing impacts effectively.
  • Identify and resolve issues and defects to meet delivery standards.
  • Review own work and peer outputs to detect errors or potential issues early.
  • Maintain systems by monitoring and correcting software defects.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a robust technical roadmap that addresses the needs of the business and partner teams.
  • Support engineering excellence initiatives, implementing metrics and processes for ongoing assessment and improvement.

Key Skills:

  • Strong IP networking skills, including device roles, subnets, and device management.
  • Proficiency in Linux operating systems and basic command-line knowledge for server interactions (e.g., Bash).
  • Tenacious problem-solving abilities with confidence in supporting production systems.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to changing environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the capability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of IT security management and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Awareness of agile methodologies and microservices/service-oriented architecture.
