Summary: The Network Engineer role involves deploying SD-WAN solutions and upgrading LAN hardware across multiple sites in Scotland. The position requires extensive experience with Cisco technologies and a proactive approach to network management. The engineer will also provide technical consultation and ensure compliance with policies and best practices. This is a hybrid role with a focus on both strategic and operational tasks within a change program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy SD-WAN solutions to over 50 sites and upgrade LAN hardware/software.
- Consult on the design and strategy for managing a multi-site network.
- Provide timely advice on networking/infrastructure design and represent the Networks team in meetings.
- Ensure compliance with design principles and policies within PSN networks.
- Consult with operational colleagues to identify service improvements and attend relevant meetings.
- Continuously improve service provision and stay updated on market trends and new products.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience with Cisco equipment and relevant certifications (CCNA minimum).
- Knowledge of troubleshooting physical network infrastructure.
- Experience in managing high availability networks with Cisco devices.
- Familiarity with Cisco Networking, Unified Communications, and VPN technologies.
- Experience with network monitoring solutions and load balancing services.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with IT and operational colleagues.
