Summary: The Network Field Engineer will be responsible for overseeing a Wi-Fi upgrade and refresh project across multiple sites in Scotland. This role requires collaboration with IT and operational teams, as well as contractors, to ensure successful installation and documentation of wireless systems. Candidates must be based in Scotland and be prepared to work nights and weekends as needed. The position is a 12-month contract with a daily rate of £450 outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in partnership with IT colleagues, contract companies, and operational colleagues across various sites in Scotland.
- Demonstrate a good working knowledge of Cisco Switches, wireless systems, and access points.
- Identify equipment related to Wi-Fi delivery on customer premises.
- Understand underlying services that may utilize Wi-Fi.
- Trace cabling from comms rooms to AP sockets with contractor support.
- Apply best practices in stock management, building AP configurations, testing, and documenting for live service deployment.
- Maintain accurate records of existing and new AP units, generating heat maps.
- Collaborate with installation contractors to survey and document installs, log issues, and sign off on their work.

Please note, candidates must be Scotland based
- Ability to work in partnership with IT colleagues, contract companies and operational colleagues attending multiple sites all over Scotland working nights and if required weekends with partners.
- Good working knowledge of how Cisco Switches, wireless systems and access points are presented to customer premises.
- The ability to identify the equipment installed on customer premises that relates to Wi-Fi delivery and presentation, often in busy and congested sites of various sizes.
- Understanding of underlying services that may utilise Wi-Fi.
- The ability to trace cabling from comms rooms and cabinets to AP socket, with the assistance of contract company support where appropriate.
- Good working knowledge of best practice approaches to stock management, building AP configs, testing and documenting for live service deployment.
- Maintaining accurate records in relation to the identification of existing AP units and install of new AP units generating new heat maps
- Work with installation contractors to survey, document installs, log issues/snags ultimately signing off their work after observation of the installs, reporting back to key project personnel when required.
