Summary: The Network Engineer role involves supporting a major client by designing, configuring, and deploying network devices, while ensuring high availability and security. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and deploy network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points using Cisco technologies.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform proactive maintenance to minimise downtime and ensure high availability.
- Implement and manage LAN/WAN, VPN, and SD-WAN solutions, including traffic optimisation and QoS configurations.
- Conduct security assessments, apply patches, and collaborate on network security policies to protect against threats.
- Support network projects from planning to execution, including upgrades, migrations, and integration with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Document network configurations, create diagrams, and provide training or support to junior team members and end-users.
Key Skills:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering.
- Proven expertise in Cisco IOS, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), and switching (VLANs, STP).
- CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification is mandatory.
- Familiarity with cloud networking, virtualization (e.g., VMware), and automation scripting (Python or Ansible preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a team-oriented environment.
