Summary: The Senior Network Engineer role focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting VMware NSX-T and software-defined networking solutions in secure environments for the UK defence sector. This hands-on position requires technical leadership and mentoring of project teams, with a strong emphasis on secure network architectures. Candidates must possess DV Clearance and relevant experience in enterprise or defence environments. The role is fully onsite in Yeovil and offers a contract duration of 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and support VMware NSX-T and software-defined networking solutions.
- Provide technical leadership to project teams.
- Mentor engineers and oversee technical delivery.
- Work within secure, mission-critical technology environments.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience with VMware NSX-T or equivalent network virtualisation platforms.
- Expertise in TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VPNs, VLANs, QoS, and Cisco networking.
- Experience with software-defined networking, micro-segmentation, and secure network architectures.
- Knowledge of Firewalls, IDS/IPS, network monitoring, and virtualised environments.
- Previous experience in secure, enterprise, or defence environments.
- Ability to mentor engineers and own technical delivery.
- VMware NSX certification (advantageous).
- Experience with VCF, vSphere, or vSAN (advantageous).
- Automation skills (Ansible, Terraform, APIs) (advantageous).
- AWS/Azure networking experience (advantageous).
Salary (Rate): £675 per day

Recruiting for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join a leading organisation delivering secure, mission-critical technology solutions within the UK defence sector.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll design, implement and support VMware NSX-T and software-defined networking solutions across highly secure environments, while providing technical leadership to project teams.
Experience includes:
* Strong experience with VMware NSX-T (or equivalent network virtualisation platforms)
* Expertise in TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VPNs, VLANs, QoS and Cisco networking
* Experience with software-defined networking, micro-segmentation and secure network architectures
* Knowledge of Firewalls, IDS/IPS, network monitoring and virtualised environments
* Previous experience delivering within secure, enterprise or defence environments
* Ability to mentor engineers and own technical delivery
It would be an added advantage if you had any of the following:
* VMware NSX certification
* VCF, vSphere or vSAN experience

* AWS/Azure networking
