Summary: The Network Engineer role involves leading various IT transformation projects, focusing on network infrastructure components, including Routing and Switching, Cisco WiFi, and firewalls. The position requires expertise in both project delivery and escalated business-as-usual activities to ensure stable and secure network systems. The role is primarily on-site for three days a week and is classified as inside IR35. The contract duration is between three to six months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on exciting IT transformation projects related to network infrastructure.
- Install, layout, and maintain network infrastructure components.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in switching and routing.
- Support project delivery and escalated business-as-usual activities.
- Ensure stable, performant, and secure network systems.
- Serve as a third line escalation point for incidents and problems.
Key Skills:
- Expertise in Routing and Switching.
- Experience with Cisco WiFi, Cisco DNA, Cisco ISE.
- Knowledge of Juniper and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Familiarity with AWS or Azure environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

The key project up & coming will be moving Cisco Wireless to Juniper MIST but there will be plenty of projects in the pipeline. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for installation, layout and maintenance of network infrastructure components within our clients network infrastructure defined by Head of Network Services; acting as a switching and routing SME within team and assisting in overall security and performance of estate from a best practice perspective. As a third line escalation point for incidents and problems and change relating to the business’ network infrastructure, the Senior Network Engineer key purpose of this role is to support both project delivery and escalated BAU activity by ensuring the business has stable, performant and secure systems from a day to day operational perspective.
