Summary: As an Associate Enterprise Networks and Security Engineer on a 6-month fixed-term contract, you will manage and maintain the network and security tools that support TalkTalk's operations. Your role involves ensuring network stability and security compliance while collaborating with various teams to address incidents and implement improvements. You will also contribute to the development of network architecture and technology roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business strategies. Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and support physical and virtual network infrastructure.
  • Deliver on project requirements to uphold TalkTalk network and security standards.
  • Maintain equipment across the office, datacentres, and cloud.
  • Manage all Enterprise Networks and Security assets.

Key Skills:

Location - Manchester or London
Fixed Term Contract - 6 months
As Associate Enterprise Networks and Security Engineer (6 months FTC) you'll own, manage, support, and maintain the network that empowers our staff, along with the security tooling which protects it. Working to deliver a secure and stable network, you'll ensure any developments to the network align with the wider Cloud Business Strategy and security requirements of the TalkTalk Consumer. As part of the wider team Enterprise Networks and Security Team, you'll work across all our technologies and with teams from all areas of the business. Acting as first point of contact, you'll help guide users to an appropriate solution and ensure a cloud first secure by design approach to everything delivered by the Enterprise Networks and Security Team.

Network build and maintenance: Build and support physical and virtual network infrastructure to ensure a stable and reliable network. Deliver on project requirements to ensure TalkTalk network and security standards are upheld. Maintain equipment across the office, datacentres, and cloud, ensuring devices remain secure, patched, and fit for purpose. Manage all Enterprise Networks and Security assets ensuring everything is accounted for, in life and up to date. Manage the end-to-end life cycle of Enterprise Network and Security equipment. Work overtime for out of hours changes and on call for out of hours support where required (paid).

Enterprise Networks and Security BAU: Manage the Enterprise Networks and Security Engineering case queues, ensuring tickets are responded to and closed within SLA. Provide top tier support to all Enterprise Networks and Security customers. Act as triage for incoming 3rd line incidents and requests. Administrate security tooling, including reporting on, and actioning any potential threats to security or service. Be accountable for work delivered, ensuring all work is in line with TalkTalk security and network standards. Perform changes to the network and equipment in a stable and suitable manner, following change management processes. Help to perform root cause analysis and problem management on Major Incidents and repeat tickets.

Communication: Collaborate with teams across TalkTalk group on risks, improvements, best practices and better understand their challenges. Challenge colleagues on projects and tickets that do not meet our standards or could lead to security vulnerabilities or support issues. Collaborate with Business Partners and Offshore partners to resolve incidents, validate and plan technical change and problem management, to ensure a high level of support to TalkTalk. Interact and coordinate with peers, vendors, suppliers and consultants and work with incident, change and problem management teams as required.

Enterprise Network and Security Architecture: Contribute to the adoption of principles, patterns, standards, and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation, and use of technology within the team’s domain. Work with management to create and maintain the technology roadmap for the technologies in use by Enterprise Networks, with consideration for future architecture direction requirements. Understand and influence the return on investment and value gain from chosen technologies, by working in partnership with other business areas. Recognise improvement requirements and drive priorities forward – We commit, We challenge. Ensure all equipment and tooling used by Enterprise Networks and Security has appropriate security patching.

Technology: Desire for continuous development of their own technical knowledge from the wider telecommunications and IT industry to ensure adoption of best practice and help to evolve the TalkTalk architecture strategy. Drive to ensure best practice and build on new and existing processes to ensure efficiency and resilience. Demonstrate experience of building, maintaining, and supporting complex enterprise networks. Knowledge and Experience of Multi Cloud networks and SAAS applications would be advantageous. Able to understand and articulate high-level designs and detailed low-level documentation, and complex network diagrams. Understand and demonstrate experience working with network security technology suites from various vendors (Fortinet, Juniper) and in technology specific areas (WAF, Web Gateways, PAM etc.) Be comfortable with technology compliance and governance. Be familiar with asset management, monitoring, logging, backups, remote access, etc.
