Network Engineer Contract | Hybrid (London) | £457 per day Inside IR35
An NHS organisation in London is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join their Digital & Infrastructure team on an interim basis.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing a complex, mission-critical network environment that supports both operational and frontline services.

- Day Rate: £457 per day Umbrella (Inside IR35)
- Contract Length: Initial 6 months
- Location: London (Hybrid working, 3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
- Start Date: ASAP
- On-Call: Participation in a 1-in-3 on-call rota required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert 3rd line support across network and security infrastructure.
- Support and maintain enterprise network technologies including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
- Investigate, diagnose and resolve complex network incidents and service issues.
- Ensure services are maintained to agreed SLAs and contribute to performance reporting through KPIs and management information.
- Lead infrastructure upgrades, testing activities and service improvements using structured project methodologies.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, network records, policies and operational procedures.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers to ensure optimal service performance.
- Support business continuity initiatives and infrastructure deployments across multiple sites.
- Participate in the strategic planning and implementation of network solutions for critical operational requirements and major events.
Experience Required
- Significant experience supporting enterprise-scale network environments.
- Strong knowledge of routing, switching, firewalls and wireless technologies.
- Experience providing 3rd line infrastructure support and managing complex incidents.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve network performance and security issues.
- Experience working with major networking vendors such as Cisco and telecommunications providers.
- Understanding of ITIL best practice and service management principles.
- Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience within the NHS or other large complex public sector organisations.
- Knowledge of network security, disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Experience delivering infrastructure projects and service improvements.
