Summary: The Network Engineer role involves supporting a major network transformation for a global research organization, focusing on a large-scale WAN rollout. The position requires hands-on involvement as well as exposure to design and documentation processes. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in network engineering and experience with WAN/SD-WAN environments. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with third parties and regional teams while ensuring security and compliance throughout the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting discovery of the existing network estate and helping map everything out properly
- Assisting with design documentation (HLD/LLD) and keeping everything aligned as the programme progresses
- Helping plan and execute migrations, including runbooks, cutovers and post-migration checks
- Working closely with third parties and regional teams to coordinate delivery
- Getting involved in security aspects (firewalls, VPNs, policy validation)
- Running and supporting testing phases (functional, failover, performance)
- Helping get everything ready for handover into BAU, including monitoring and NOC documentation
Key Skills:
- Solid background in network engineering (around 5+ years)
- Experience working on WAN / SD-WAN / SASE environments
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Palo Alto (ideally Prisma Access)
- Good understanding of BGP and routing concepts
- Strong experience with IPSec VPNs
- Experience in network migrations or large change programmes
- Comfortable working with global teams and external partners
- Nice to have: Experience working on separation or divestment projects
- Exposure to regulated environments or compliance frameworks (ISO, PCI etc.)
