Summary: The role of 2nd Line Network Engineer involves supporting and maintaining network operations for a client in the construction sector on a short-term 3-month contract. The position requires hands-on operational support and serves as a key escalation point for network-related issues. The contractor will work primarily on Cisco Meraki firewalls and assist with various network incidents. The role is based in Central London with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, manage, and maintain Cisco Meraki firewalls
- Resolve escalated network issues as part of a 2nd line support function
- Support LAN, WAN, VPN, and connectivity-related incidents
- Maintain the stability and performance of the network environment
- Assist with troubleshooting and issue resolution in Azure-based environments
- Work closely with internal IT teams to ensure business continuity
Key Skills:
- Strong experience with Cisco Meraki, particularly firewall configuration and management
- Proven background in 2nd line network support
- Solid understanding of core networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs)
- Experience maintaining and supporting live production networks
- Exposure to Azure networking environments
- Previous experience working in fast-paced or operational environments (construction, engineering, or similar)
