Summary: The Network Engineer role requires a candidate with 5-8 years of operational experience in IP/MPLS/Ethernet/SDH networks, preferably within a Utilities environment. The position involves managing resources for network operations, ensuring high standards from outsourced services, and handling critical incidents. The candidate must also possess relevant qualifications and be able to achieve SC security vetting clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a focal point for business service liaison, including projects and service transition.
  • Manage all resources, including third-party service providers, for operational management and control of CNI SCADA and CNI networks.
  • Ensure networks are fully resilient, safe, and secure.
  • Collaborate with IS, the business, and third-party stakeholders to manage network changes without compromising operational safety.
  • Work with Audit, Security, and Government organizations to ensure compliance with policies for critical CNI networks.
  • Participate in incident management on CNI networks to restore resilience quickly.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations to prevent recurrence of incidents.
  • Manage the annual budget and track actuals against the approved budget plan.
  • Ensure disaster recovery plans are in place and tested appropriately.

Job Description: Mandatory Skills: Network Implementation. Experience: 5-8 Years. Knowledge and Qualifications Required: • This role will suit a candidate with operational experience in IP/MPLS/Ethernet/SDH networks ideally in a Utilities environment. • Ability to manage all of resources required to run best in class network & telemetry operations. • Ensure that outsourced services and partners effectively deliver to very high standards. • Experience of managing outsourced services in an ITIL environment is required, effectively, setting direction, control and standards, ideally in operational network environments. • Strong knowledge of appropriate technology and systems that make up the network, telemetry and SCADA infrastructure would be an advantage. • Use of network monitoring tools and fault finding in these networks Understand and interpret both security and external regulations that impact upon the operation and effective running of operational networks. • Experience of managing critical major incidents out of hours is also required for this role. • This will be through participation in an out of hours rota.Candidate must be able to achieve SC security vetting clearance Educated to degree level in computing or relevant engineering discipline.
