Summary: The Network Engineer role at Whitehall Resources involves working with a key client in London, requiring extensive hands-on experience with various network technologies, including Paloalto Firewalls and SD-WAN. The position demands participation in critical issue resolution, maintenance of network infrastructure, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The engineer will also be responsible for troubleshooting, managing network servers, and ensuring the stability and security of the network. This role includes a commitment to 24/7 global coverage, including on-call responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-on skills in Paloalto Firewalls, SD-WAN (Silverpeak), and Aruba & Ruckus wireless infrastructure.
- Participate in war rooms for critical site issues and create/maintain run books for operational needs.
- Create SOPs for day-to-day repeatable work and maintain best practices across all environments.
- Handle L2/L3 problem tickets and manage network structure of regional sites.
- Conduct fault-finding, analysis, and logging for performance exceptions.
- Provide input to improve network stability, security, efficiency, and scalability.
- Fine-tune and configure various network infrastructure and maintain data integrity.
- Manage network servers and technology tools, including physical site visits for troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with offshore teams and follow up on IT Helpdesk issues.
- Prioritize work based on severity and customer impact, handling sensitive escalation issues.
- Participate in a 24/7 global coverage plan, including weekend on-call and holiday coverage.
- Coordinate with service providers for ISP-related issues and diagnose complex network problems.
- Maintain and improve network stability by upgrading existing infrastructure.
- Support network infrastructure problems by monitoring support queues and ensuring corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Network and Security Architects, Server and Platform Engineers, and Data Center Operations.
- Maintain switch, router, and other hardware support.
Key Skills:
- Hands-on experience with Paloalto Firewalls.
- Experience with SD-WAN technologies, specifically Silverpeak.
- Knowledge of Aruba and Ruckus wireless infrastructure.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create and maintain operational documentation (run books, SOPs).
- Experience in managing L2/L3 network issues.
- Understanding of network stability, security, efficiency, and scalability improvements.
