Network Engineer

Network Engineer Leeds, West Yorkshire (Hybrid - 2 to 3 days onsite) 6 Months Contract - Inside IR35) An opportunity has opened for an experienced Network Engineer to support a large-scale technology programme. This is a newly created contract role, brought in to add specialist network capability that doesn't currently exist in-house. As a Network Engineer, you'll be the go-to technical expert across multi-site corporate networks, helping keep critical network systems running smoothly while driving improvements where needed. This role is not operationally focused - it's a practical, delivery-oriented position for someone comfortable with large-scale rollouts, proof-of-concept and test environments, and implementing changes across multiple sites. The Network Engineer role is very much about execution rather than strategy. You'll be supporting network rollout activities, assisting with pilot sites, resolving technical challenges, and working alongside internal teams and suppliers such as Zscaler. There's a strong emphasis on hands-on delivery, practical problem solving, and knowledge sharing to build internal capability.

Network Engineer - Key Skills & Experience:

• Strong hands-on technical experience with Cisco networks - switches, routers, WiFi, MPLS, firewalls
• Experience with Zscaler Branch (SASE) / Zero Trust solutions; SD-WAN knowledge helpful
• Large-scale, multi-site rollout experience essential
• Practical experience translating technical requirements into high- and low-level network designs
• Ability to produce clear, high-quality network documentation and diagrams
• Experience reviewing and approving network changes, maintaining standards and controls
• Project-focused mindset with the ability to lead workstreams and influence others
• ITIL experience and familiarity with change requests and operational governance
• Confident self-starter with a practical, delivery-oriented approach
• Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously in a large enterprise environment
