Network Engineer

Summary: We are looking for a highly skilled Network Engineer with extensive experience in IP networking and major routing protocols. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of network analysis and troubleshooting, along with expertise in various internet protocols and router platforms. This role requires hands-on experience with Cisco equipment and a strong ability to manage complex network environments. The position is based in Ireland and offers a negotiable salary.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain robust IP networking infrastructure.
• Configure and manage major internet routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF.
• Work with Cisco 37xx, 49xx, 65xx, 73xx, and 76xx platforms, including supervisory and line cards.
• Conduct in-depth network analysis and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
• Oversee and manage multiple protocols and technologies including DWDM, SONET (OC3, OC48), VLANs/STP, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP flow control, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, LDP, and IPSEC & VPNs.
• Utilize tools such as netflow, DNS, and HTTP for network monitoring and security.

Key Skills:

• Extensive experience in IP networking fundamentals and the application of IP protocols.
• In-depth knowledge of BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
• Strong expertise in Cisco router platforms and configurations.
• Robust troubleshooting skills for complex network environments.
• Hands-on experience with a wide range of network protocols and technologies.
• Scripting experience – python or bash.
