Summary: The role of Network Engineer involves providing hands-on 3rd line support for network infrastructure and managing day-to-day IT operations within a global company based in Glasgow. The position requires expertise in various networking technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and Cisco systems. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with a hybrid working arrangement, requiring three days in the office. The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting skills and in-depth knowledge of network design and implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day support for Back End IT systems and network infrastructure.
- Deliver hands-on 3rd line support for network-related issues.
- Manage and troubleshoot complex network, system, and security problems.
- Design and implement multi-site LANs and WANs.
- Utilize and maintain Cisco switching and routing protocols.
- Implement and manage firewall technologies, specifically Palo Alto and Fortinet.
- Support wireless technologies and global Aruba deployments.
- Oversee MPLS and VPN networks.
- Utilize monitoring tools such as Solarwinds NPM & NTA and Cisco Prime.
- Manage F5 technologies including LTM, GTM, APM, and BIG-IP client.
Key Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting skills in complex network, system, and security issues.
- In-depth network experience in design and implementation of multi-site LANs and WANs.
- Comprehensive experience with Cisco switching, including Nexus 3k & 9k.
- Solid understanding of routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF.
- In-depth knowledge of wireless technologies and global Aruba deployments.
- Experience with leading firewall technologies, specifically Palo Alto and Fortinet.
- Strong understanding of network security and Layer 7 technologies.
- Experience with MPLS and VPN networks.
- Knowledge of Solarwinds NPM & NTA and Cisco Prime.
- F5 LTM, GTM, APM, and BIG-IP client experience.

Would you like to work for a global company who operate from prestigious offices in the centre of Glasgow, Its hybrid working, 3 days in the office.
My client is looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join them on a 12 month fixed term contract basis (PAYE- salaried) THIS IS NOT A DAILY RATE CONTRACT
You will be providing day to day business as usual tasks supporting the Back End IT systems and providing hands on 3rd line support for their Network infrastructure.
Your skills will include:
- Strong troubleshooting skills of complex network, system, and/or security problems.
- Be able to demonstrate in-depth network experience especially in the design and implementation of multi-site LANS and WANs
- Comprehensive experience of Cisco switching, Cisco Nexus 3k & 9k.
- Solid understanding of routing protocols including BGP\EIGRP\OSPF
- In-depth knowledge of wireless technologies with experience of global Aruba deployments
- In-depth experience with a leading Firewall technology Palo alto\Fortinet.
- Strong understanding of network security to implement Layer7 technologies
- Experience of MPLS network and VPN networks
