Summary: The role of Network Engineer involves a 6-month contract focusing on routing and switching, primarily utilizing Cisco technologies. The engineer will work closely with the UC team to set up MS Teams and Cisco telephony systems while managing network quality and capacity. The position requires hands-on experience with various networking protocols and tools, as well as a strong understanding of network diagnostics and analytics. The role is based in Edinburgh and classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Focus on routing and switching with Cisco technologies.
- Work closely with the UC team to set up MS Teams and Cisco telephony systems.
- Manage QoS issues and circuit capacity planning from a network perspective.
- Implement and architect Cisco ThousandEyes.
- Administer network firewall policies.
- Utilize automation/scripting and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer.
- Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., QoS, BGP, OSPF, HSRP, 802.11, 802.1x, IPSEC).
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and network diagnostic tools including Cisco ThousandEyes.
- Experience with Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, Catalyst Center, and ISE.
- University degree in Computer Science or a related subject.
- Professional certification (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) preferred.
- Knowledge of Cisco SD-WAN and SD-Access is a plus.

Proven experience as a Network Engineer focusing on routing, switching, Cisco WiFi
Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., QoS, BGP, OSPF, HSRP, 802.11, 802.1x, IPSEC).
Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools including Cisco ThousandEyes.
Primarily a network engineer role with core competency of Routing & Switching. Should be comfortable working on CISCO and Checkpoint firewalls
Needs to work very closely with the UC team to help set up MS Teams and Cisco telephony systems, manage QoS issues, circuit capacity planning, etc. from network perspective
Experience with implementing Cisco ThousandEyes. Someone who can architect and implement it.
Knowledge of Cisco SD-WAN, SD-Access, Catalysts Center and ISE a plus
Network firewall policy administration a plus
Hands-on experience of automation/scripting and configuration management tools such as Ansible
