Summary: The role of Network Engineer (DDI SME) involves joining a leading financial services organization in Edinburgh to support a critical infrastructure program. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in DDI (DNS, DHCP & IPAM) to design, deliver, and evolve enterprise-scale DDI platforms. This long-term contract position offers hybrid working arrangements and requires collaboration across global teams. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and support large-scale DDI infrastructure projects, including both physical and logical transformations.
  • Design, deploy, and operationalise DNS, DHCP, and IPAM solutions across new and existing environments.
  • Identify, assess, and manage technical and operational risks, including downstream service and user impacts.
  • Collaborate effectively both independently and as part of a global team, communicating complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Contribute to infrastructure project planning and execution using industry-standard project management methodologies.
  • Produce clear documentation and support end-to-end delivery.

Key Skills:

  • Expert-level engineering experience with enterprise DDI technologies, including Cygna VitalQIP, EfficientIP, Infoblox, and F5 BIG-IP DNS.
  • Strong hands-on experience with core network protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, and DNS.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluent English is essential.
  • Exposure to automation or scripting using technologies such as shell scripting, Ansible, Python, VBA, JavaScript, JSON, or API integration/development.
  • Experience working in Agile teams, participating in ceremonies, and using tools such as JIRA.

Overview

We are working with a leading financial services organisation who are seeking an experienced Network Engineer with deep DDI (DNS, DHCP & IPAM) expertise to join a critical infrastructure programme. This is a long-term contract opportunity based in Edinburgh, offering hybrid working. The successful candidate will act as a DDI Subject Matter Expert, playing a key role in the design, delivery, and evolution of enterprise-scale DDI platforms within a complex, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Projects: Plan, implement, and support large-scale DDI infrastructure projects, including both physical (servers, appliances) and logical (software upgrades, product changes, data migrations) transformations.
  • Design & Deployment: Design, deploy, and operationalise DNS, DHCP, and IPAM solutions across new and existing environments, ensuring scalable, resilient, and consumable services for internal stakeholders.
  • Risk & Impact Management: Identify, assess, and manage technical and operational risks, including downstream service and user impacts, while addressing headwind challenges proactively.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work effectively both independently and as part of a global team, collaborating across time zones, geographies, and cultures. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Project Delivery: Contribute to infrastructure project planning and execution using industry-standard project management methodologies, tooling, and governance. Produce clear documentation and support end-to-end delivery.

  • DDI Expertise: Expert-level engineering experience with enterprise DDI technologies, including: Cygna VitalQIP EfficientIP Infoblox F5 BIG-IP DNS AMS & AMM platforms
  • Networking Fundamentals: Strong hands-on experience with core network protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, and DNS.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluent English is essential.
