Summary: The Network Engineer role in Chester involves joining a small IT managed service team responsible for the implementation and operation of voice and data communications systems. The engineer will ensure optimal performance and reliability of these systems while providing incident management and support for various network services. This position requires collaboration with vendors and external teams to maintain effective change and asset management. The role is initially for a duration of 9 months and classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide incident and problem management for supported systems.
• Install, set up, and test equipment, working with vendors and external teams.
• Ensure effective change and asset management for supported systems.
• Monitor systems and produce quantified performance metrics.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with governance standards and best practices.
• Manage the operation of voice, video, and network services.
• Provide support for telephony, network patching, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and video conferencing.
• Ensure changes are accurately logged, approved, and documented within the CMDB.
• Generate reports on system performance and maintain monitoring protocols.

Key Skills:

• Degree in Information and Communications Technology or equivalent experience.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) in Routing & Switching, Voice, or Security (or equivalent experience).
• Strong understanding of IT service requirements and vendor evaluation.
• Knowledge of ITIL methodology (preferred but not essential).
• Experience managing LAN and WAN networks for voice and data communications.
• Detailed knowledge of Cisco networking, including Routers, Switches, and wireless LAN systems.
• Expertise in Cisco voice communication systems.
• Proven ability to monitor, report, and optimize network performance.
