Summary: The role of Cisco Network Engineer involves designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure and high-performance network infrastructure, with a focus on Cisco SD-Access, wireless networking, and Firepower. The position requires a hybrid working model, with four days on-site each week. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing network automation and security while ensuring compliance with industry standards. This contract position is classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and maintain Cisco SD-Access solutions to enhance network automation and security.
  • Manage and optimize wireless networks across campus, ensuring seamless connectivity and performance.
  • Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco Firepower devices and FMC (Firepower Management Center) for advanced threat protection.
  • Maintain and secure network perimeter, including firewall policies, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems.
  • Work closely with IT teams to support network infrastructure projects and day-to-day operations.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network performance issues, implementing proactive solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with security best practices and industry standards.
  • Provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams.

Key Skills:

  • Cisco SD-Access (Software-Defined Access) - Strong experience in network automation, segmentation, and security policies.
  • Wireless Networking - Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst, Aironet, or Meraki wireless solutions.
  • Cisco Firepower & FMC - Expertise in configuring and managing Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and FMC.
  • Firewalls & Perimeter Security - Knowledge of Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, or Fortinet firewalls and network access controls.
  • Routing & Switching - Strong understanding of BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and Layer 2/3 network protocols.
  • Troubleshooting & Monitoring - Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Cisco DNA Center, or Splunk.
  • Certifications (Desirable) - CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Security, Cisco SD-Access Certification, or equivalent.
