Summary: The role of Network Engineer at a leading global Hedge Fund involves engineering and operations for network security and load balancing within a high-performance financial environment. The position requires working onsite five days a week in London as part of a team focused on maintaining extreme uptime and utilizing advanced network technologies. The candidate will be responsible for a mix of engineering, operations, and project implementation across various network aspects. Strong experience in financial services and the ability to adapt to high-pressure situations are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering, operations and implementation role in load balancing enterprise networks.
  • Mix of engineering, operations and project implementation across all aspects of the network, including datacenter, desktop connectivity, corporate Wi-Fi, remote offices, and WAN/MAN.
  • Serve as an escalation point for critical issues. Help connect the global team to key network challenges and needs for the Europe region.
  • Implementation of global standards and participation into the network automation framework for deployment and operations.
  • L2/L3 operational support experience with a desire to train more junior engineers and contribute to operational process improvement.

Key Skills:

  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment and handle when the direction changes.
  • Experience with IP Connectivity.
  • Arista.
  • Switches.
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS.
  • Scripting in either Ansible or Python.
  • Experience with current versions of enterprise networks (leaf/spine), route/switch, Cisco, Arista, Wi-Fi, WAN engineering and enterprise QoS.
  • In depth understanding of SSL & HTTP protocols.
  • Scripting and programming knowledge with a slant towards network automation specifically with Python or Ansible.
  • Expert knowledge of BGP routing protocol.
  • Extensive experience with IP Connectivity.
  • Knowledge and experience of BGP routing protocol and its uses in leaf/spine topology.
  • Some exposure to Cloud (AWS) networking is beneficial.
  • Experience with network performance management & monitoring technologies such as Opsramp and Kentik.
  • Experience with Meraki.
