Summary: Excellent opportunity to join an International Bank as a Network Engineer, focusing on a Firewall rule review and remediation project. The role requires extensive experience with Cisco technologies and involves analyzing and modifying Firewall rules based on security and audit findings. The successful candidate will also participate in change management processes and document changes for the BAU team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, analyse, modify Firewall rules in accordance with security findings and group internal audit findings.
  • Perform Firewall policy reviews to identify redundant, obsolete, or overly permissive rules.
  • Conduct impact assessments and risk analysis before implementing Firewall changes.
  • Document Firewall changes for BAU team.
  • Participate in change management processes and ensure compliance with organisational standards.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering and Firewall administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco networking technologies, including routing and switching.
  • Experience managing Cisco Firewalls and security solutions.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, NAT, ACLs, and network security principles.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and change management procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE.
  • Experience with Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower, or Cisco Secure Firewall platforms.
  • Knowledge of network monitoring and management tools.
  • Experience working in enterprise network environments.

Network Engineer - Cisco Firewalls - Banking

Excellent opportunity opens to join an International Bank as their new Network Engineer. You will take the lead on a Firewall rule review and remediation project. We are looking for someone with extensive Cisco experience.

Key responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Review, analyse, modify Firewall rules in accordance with security findings and group internal audit findings.
  • Perform Firewall policy reviews to identify redundant, obsolete, or overly permissive rules.
  • Conduct impact assessments and risk analysis before implementing Firewall changes.
  • Document Firewall changes for BAU team.
  • Participate in change management processes and ensure compliance with organisational standards.

Success Criteria

  1. Group Internal Audit findings are closed in agreed timeframe.
  2. Internal monitoring capability is enhanced to enable the in-sourcing of outsourced 24x7 network managed service contract.
  3. Additional network-related security audit findings are closed in agreed timeframe.

Other tasks at the discretion of the Head of IT Security. Out hours work will be required for changes that are agreed to be made out of hours.

Qualification & Experience
