Summary: The Network Datacentre Engineer role is focused on leading infrastructure projects, specifically data center refresh and migration activities in both physical and virtual environments. The position requires hands-on experience with server management, disaster recovery, and systems integration, along with a strong emphasis on automation and optimization. This contract role is critical for supporting data center operations and enhancing system availability. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise and project management skills to execute complex infrastructure tasks effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead data center refresh and migration activities for physical and virtual environments.
- Provision and configure Windows/Linux servers on VMware, manage RAID configurations, and execute rehosting/replatforming.
- Build and test disaster recovery plans, conduct failover/failback, and implement fixes to enhance system availability.
- Configure DNS, DHCP, NTP, IP addressing, perform patching, OS upgrades, and apply security hardening rules.
- Support backup, monitoring, and management tools including Veeam, SCCM, and VMware SRM.
- Develop PowerShell/Python scripts for efficiency and standardize server images.
- Ensure appropriate power, cooling, and cabling needs are met.
Key Skills:
- Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and Citrix environments.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server & Linux systems.
- Expertise in IP networking, subnets, VLANs.
- Proficiency in remote management tools.
- Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication + Orchestrator.
- Familiarity with VMware SRM & replication strategies.
- Scripting skills for automation (PowerShell/Python).
- Basic knowledge of Azure VM provisioning & sizing.
