We are seeking an experienced Network Automation & Tooling Engineer to join an established team delivering network infrastructure separation for a large-scale corporate divestiture programme. You will build and operate automated pipelines, manage the network Single Source of Truth, and deploy new monitoring, observability, and out-of-band management platforms to ensure a clean operational split.
Key Responsibilities
- CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code: Build and deploy network configuration changes through automated GitOps pipelines using Terraform for brownfield migrations.
- Automation Development: Maintain Python-based automation tooling (Nornir, NAPALM, pyATS) and integrate workflows with Nautobot as the single source of truth.
- Monitoring & Observability: Design and build a new SaaS-first monitoring platform (LogicMonitor) while cleaning up, decoupling, and adjusting RBAC on Legacy systems (SolarWinds, ELK).
- Platform Duplication & Split: Duplicate Nautobot microservices and Opengear out-of-band designs into cloud hosting (AWS ECS), removing cross-entity access and integrations.
- Network Operations: Support RIPE LIR registration activities, including new ASN procurement and prefix migration.
Required Skills & Experience
- Network Automation: Proficient in building multi-vendor automation solution templates using Python, Nornir, NAPALM, pyATS, and network device APIs (NETCONF, RESTCONF).
- DevOps & CI/CD: Hands-on experience building end-to-end pipelines (GitHub Actions) and containerised services (Docker, Docker Compose, AWS ECS Fargate).
- Infrastructure as Code: Strong Terraform experience, specifically managing modules, state files, and importing brownfield network environments.
- Data & Source of Truth: Deep understanding of Nautobot (or similar DCIM/IPAM tools), GitOps data integrity workflows, and parsing nested JSON/YAML data structures.
- Observability & Infrastructure: Experience with NMS platforms (LogicMonitor, SolarWinds), ELK/Grafana stacks, model-driven telemetry, and Opengear console servers.
