Summary: The role of Legacy Technologies Network Architect involves designing and implementing network solutions within the Defence and National Security sector, focusing on legacy circuit-switched networks. The position requires collaboration with service and project teams to ensure effective service delivery and technical support. Candidates must possess a valid UK SC clearance prior to application. The role is full-time and based in Birmingham, with travel requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement medium/large network solutions for cost-effective services.
- Produce design collateral and ensure governance reviews are passed.
- Provide hands-on configuration and implementation support.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure effective handover to service.
- Manage and configure routers, switches, and other network devices.
- Implement QoS and relevant security measures for reliable data transmission.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in both point-to-point and packet-switched networks.
- Produce quality technical documentation for delivery and solution support.
- Communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders and work as a team player.
Key Skills:
- Familiarity with legacy circuit-switched networks and point-to-point connectivity.
- Experience in designing and implementing TDM networks.
- Knowledge of SDH, WDM, ATM, and Frame-Relay technologies.
- Ability to implement QoS for real-time applications like VoIP.
- Experience in implementing security measures such as encryption and secure routing protocols.
- Solid understanding of project end-to-end life cycle.
- Excellent communication skills and experience in the defence sector.
