Summary: The Network Architect role is a senior-level contract position focused on supporting network strategy and transformation initiatives within a global financial services organization. The successful candidate will act as a technical authority, overseeing network modernization programs and ensuring compliance with security and operational standards. This position requires collaboration with various teams to design scalable and secure network architectures. The role offers hybrid working arrangements, with a requirement for occasional on-site presence in London.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and own enterprise network architecture across large-scale environments
- Produce high-level and low-level network designs (HLD / LLD)
- Act as the senior technical authority for network transformation initiatives
- Design and govern Software Defined Networking (SDN) architectures
- Provide architectural leadership across firewall migration and security transformation programmes
- Define architectural standards, principles, and reference designs
- Ensure network solutions align with security, compliance, and operational requirements
- Support engineering teams through design assurance, technical guidance, and solution reviews
- Engage with infrastructure, security, cloud, and programme stakeholders
- Contribute to technology roadmaps and long-term network strategy
- Operate within regulatory frameworks typical of financial services environments
Key Skills:
- Proven experience working as a Network Architect in large enterprise environments
- Strong background designing and governing Cisco-based network architectures
- Deep knowledge of routing and switching at CCNP / CCIE level (or equivalent experience)
- Hands-on architectural experience with SDN technologies such as Cisco ACI and VMware NSX-T
- Strong experience designing next-generation firewall solutions (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco Firepower)
- Experience architecting Cisco ISE and enterprise network access control solutions
- Exposure to hybrid and cloud-integrated network architectures
- Experience working in regulated or financial services environments (highly desirable)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
