Summary: The role of Azure Network Architect involves designing, implementing, and managing the architecture of WAN/VRF and LAN environments. The successful candidate will oversee end-to-end network architecture, ensuring optimal performance and security in cloud networking, particularly within Azure. This position requires extensive experience with modern network components and a focus on security. The contract is for 12 months and is classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the architecture and design of the network, including WAN/VRF and (virtual) LAN.
- Design, deploy, and maintain network components such as: WAF (F5) Firewalls (Palo Alto and Azure) Azure VNets, Load Balancers, Express Routes, and Gateways.
- Develop and maintain network access and security controls, including Network Access Lists, allow-lists, and segmentation.
- Create and maintain detailed network architecture and design artefacts.
- Specify and design network management systems, monitoring, alerting, and reporting mechanisms.
- Provide input into capacity and performance modelling for network components, including bandwidth, latency, workload distribution, and high-availability load balancing.
- Design and deploy DNS, VPN, and Internet access solutions.
- Advise and guide programmes on network configuration, testing, and optimisation.
- Liaise with clients and third-party personnel to ensure seamless network connectivity, routing, setup, and adherence to network controls.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale networks.
- Strong expertise with cloud networking in Azure, including VNets, Gateways, ExpressRoute, and Load Balancers.
- Hands-on experience with WAF (F5) and firewalls (Palo Alto and Azure).
- Deep understanding of network access, security controls, and segmentation.
- Experience with DNS, VPN, and Internet access design and deployment.
- Ability to perform capacity planning, performance modelling, and workload distribution in high-throughput, high-availability environments.
